Fergie Cartoons

Mrs. Pao cartoon

In the 1970s, I was quite a prolific aspiring cartoonist. I actually sold some of my cartoons as advertising, and had others published as editorial content in the old Sunbums magazine. Here are a few surviving examples:

Political cartoon on the plan by rich landlord Mrs. Lester Marks and developer Joe Pao to evict farmers and families and develop lush Waiahole and Waikane valleys on Oʻahuʻs windward shore into thousands of homes.
A U.S. Navy admiral wondered why Hawaiians were protesting over the practice bombing of Kahoʻolawe island. “Itʻs just a pile of rocks!”
Commentary on the bombing and Army practice drills on Kahoʻolawe island.
